This event will be held on Saturday July 14th from 8:30 am – 1:00 pm just in time to gear up for our very important mid-term elections! The training will be at the Union County Democratic Headquarters located at 77 Brant Avenue, Suite 303, 3rd Floor, Clark, New Jersey 07066.
Sponsored by Union County Chairman Nick Scutari, the training will feature an impressive list of renowned speakers from around the state who will provide attendees with the basic tools they need to run a successful campaign. The presenters have a combined experience of over 200 years in managing successful campaigns throughout the state of New Jersey. The full agenda can be seen below.

8:30 am – 9:00 am – Registration and Welcome by Chairman Nick Scutari
9:00 am – 10:30 am – Campaign 101 and Strategy featuring Keynote Speaker Patti McGuire
Patti McGuire has over 30 years of political and government affairs experience in New Jersey. Throughout Ms. McGuire’s career she has run numerous training seminars on Political Campaigns. She has been invited lecturer at both Ramapo and Stockton Colleges to discuss Government and Politics. During her endeavors, Ms. McGuire has been a political consultant for numerous campaigns in New Jersey including serving as Political Director for President Clinton, State Director for Kerry for President and Coordinated Campaign Director in the 1997 Governor’s race.
This session will include an overview of the “down & dirty” and the real nature of campaigns in New Jersey. It will go over the types of campaigns and the staff needed to execute them (consultants, volunteers, paid staff, etc). Additionally, this session will go over important aspects of advancing a campaign including research, message development and campaign planning.

This session will include information on building partnerships in the community and creating a strong voter base. Sessions will include an explanation of the NJVAN program, identifying voters, following up and developing door-to-door/mail/phone campaigns. It will also include information on the newest technology in voter outreach.

11:45 pm – 12:15 pm – Election Day Planning with Safanya Searcy, Political Capacity Coordinator – SEIU National Politcal Department
This session will go in-depth as to strategies, planning and executing Get Out The Vote efforts. This will include discussions on pre-election and election day needs as well as the all important “Election Day Tick Tock”.
12:15 pm – 1:00 pm – Fundraising
This session will include information on how to build a donor list, develop events and raise money through new online avenues. Also, this session will outline the filing requirements of NJ ELEC.
