Jay Robaina

 

 

Jay Robaina is New Jersey born and raised; growing up and living in Union County for over 37 years. He’s a husband and proud father to a beautiful daughter and a Roselle Park homeowner since 2010. Jay has been involved in the community, serving in various roles under different administrations on the Municipal Land Use Board and is one of the Co-Founders of the Rails-To-Trails Union County Advocacy Group. In January 2021, he was appointed to serve as the Borough’s representative on the Union County Transportation Advisory Board.

Councilman Robaina was in the Marine Corps JROTC serving as a public affairs officer, played baseball, ran track and was in the Police Explorers program during his youth. He graduated from Kean University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, with a concentration is Public Relations and Journalism and has worked in healthcare public relations, senior living, and community outreach roles for 20 years. Councilman Robaina has been a member of the American College of Healthcare Administrators, the Public Relations Society of America, and has received certificates of achievement from FEMA and the Emergency Management Institute in incident command and national incident management systems.

He has been certified by the Council of Supply Chain Management Processionals in SCM Principles, Customer Service, and Transportation Operations. Jay also received his certificate of course completion in Roadway Traffic and Safety Improvements from Rutgers Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation, and is certified as a planning official by the NJ Planning Officials. He passed the core knowledge examination by the National Association of Long-Term Care Administrators Board, received accreditation in Leadership Management and Disaster Preparedness Training from RWJBH (formerly known as Saint Barnabas Health Care System) and has his certification from the Disney Institute on Disney’s Approach to Quality Service for Healthcare Professionals.

Jay serves as Council Liaison for the newly formed Roselle Park Rails to Trails Advisory Committee, the Board of Health, Clean Communities Programs, and is Chairperson for the Human Resources Sub-Committee for Public Services & Administration.

Jay is passionate about improving our local business economy, enhancing quality of life, increasing bicycle and pedestrian safety, expanding recreation and furthering initiatives benefiting our Borough’s children and special needs community. Jay also believes in civic participation and achieving solutions through collaborative efforts.

Mayor Signorello and members of the 2021 Borough Council appointed Councilman Robaina to fill the unexpired term of the former Fifth Ward Councilperson, who resigned in May 2021.
