Manuel FigueiredoManuel Figueiredo is in his 3rd term serving the residents of Union on the Township Committee. He has served as Commissioner of the Department of Public Works, Building, Licensing, Purchasing, Fire and Police Departments, Recreation and Senior Services.

Mayor Figueiredo was in the education field for most of his career, and also a professional singer/pianist. He holds a B.A. and M.A. in Education from Kean University and has further pursued non-degree graduate studies at Montclair University in Education and NJIT in Computer Information Systems. 

Manuel and his wife Rosa have 4 children who are products of the Union Township Public School system. 

Mayor Figueiredo’s priorities focus on: continued infrastructure improvement, continued public safety, continued responsible development in our township.

He is honored and humbled to represent our great township as Mayor for a second term. His love and commitment to family and community, along with sincerity and integrity, are the character traits that he brings to this governing body and the residents of Union. As Theodore Roosevelt stated, “Character, in the long run, is the decisive factor in the life of an individual and of nations alike”.

Mayor Figueiredo is looking forward to working with the residents, along with the administration, for the betterment of Union Township and its citizens to continue making Union a desired place to live, work and shop.
