Trenton – Governor Phil Murphy, Senator Nicholas Scutari and Senator Joe Cryan expressed praise for the four individuals nominated in the Superior Court Judge package for the Union County Bench this month. The nominees are Dara Govan, Paul Nieves, Rose Comas and Daniel Roberts.
“I am proud to nominate this extraordinarily qualified and diverse group of individuals to Superior Court seats in Union County. Their commitment to justice, fairness, and equality will benefit the county and the state as a whole,” said Governor Murphy. “As Superior Court Judges, these distinguished individuals will serve the people of New Jersey well.”
“I would like to congratulate all four nominees for receiving this nomination,” said Senator Scutari (D-Union). “This is not an easy feat to accomplish, and it is evident that each of them have worked tirelessly over the years to gain this nomination. This is an exceptional group of candidates, each coming from various backgrounds with their own areas of expertise. I know that Union County will be in great hands with these nominees and I am looking forward to overseeing their confirmation.”
“All four of these nominees have the experience needed to hold the prestigious title of Superior Court Judge,” said Senator Cryan (D-Union). “Not only are each of them highly qualified to hold this position, but their diverse backgrounds will be essential in adding valuable insight for whatever comes their way.”
Dara Govan attended Rutgers University School of Law and has been serving as the Chief in the Government Frauds Office at the United States Attorney’s Office for the last 10 years.
Paul Nieves attended Seton Hall Law School and has served as the Assistant Section Chief at the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office for the last 25 years as a Trial Attorney. Nieves also serves as a member of the Union County Bar Association and the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey.
Rose Comas attended Temple University’s James E. Beasley School of Law and has served as the First Deputy County Counsel for Union County for the last 7 years. Her previous experience includes working as a victim/witness counselor as well.
Daniel Roberts graduated from Widener University Delaware School of Law and opened his own law office in 1996 alongside his partner Jeffrey Charney. Roberts’ expertise is in personal injury, workers’ compensation, real estate and municipal court matters.
