State Sen. Joseph Cryan (D-Union) has endorsed Senate President Nick Scutari for re-election in 2027, both for his Senate seat in the 22nd district and for Union County Democratic chairman.
“Nick has proven he’s the effective leadership we need in Trenton and in Union County for the foreseeable future,” said Cryan.
The endorsement is further evidence of a continued thaw in the relationship between the two Democratic senators, who have sparred in the past.
“Nick has been incredibly effective at leading our caucus and building consensus in the State Senate as well as the Democratic Party in Union County through moments of both challenge and uncertainty,” Cryan said. “His compassion for working families and his determination to protect vulnerable communities reflect our shared core Democratic values.”
Scutari, a Clark Democrat, is expected to return the favor and endorse Cryan for re-election soon. Cryan represents the adjacent 20th district.
