
Scotch Plains Councilman Matt Adams, who was appointed to the township’s governing body in April to finish Josh Losardo’s unexpired seat (vacated when he became mayor), has won the special election to fulfill the term by defeating first-time Republican candidate Deanna Dell-Bene on Tuesday night.

The New Jersey Globe is projecting that State Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-Linden), Assemblywoman Linda Carter (D-Plainfield), and Assemblyman James Kennedy (D-Rahway) have won re-election to the 22nd legislative district.

Mayor Chris Weber and Deputy Mayor Alex Keiser unofficially have won re-election to the Springfield Township Committee.

Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle, a Democrat, won her bid for a second term, according to unofficial results.

The Union County Board of County Commissioners reminds residents, business owners and nonprofit managers to submit nominations for the 30th annual Women of Excellence awards. The nomination period will run from Monday, Nov. 1 to Wednesday, Dec. 1.
